Hi! I’m Saumik — or Sam, if that’s easier. I’m a recent medical school graduate from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) with a B.S. in Health & Nutrition Sciences (Public Health concentration) from the Macaulay Honors College at CUNY, and I’m a Bronx High School of Science alumnus.
I have several years of tutoring experience working with students K–12 and college-level, both in person and online, one-on-one and in small classroom settings. I tutor SAT, ACT, SHSAT, New York State Regents Exams (e.g. Living Environment, Chemistry, ELA), and general reading, writing, and math.
At the college level, I support students with reading comprehension, academic and scientific writing, public health coursework, and pre-med studies, drawing directly from my medical school training. I also help students develop strong study strategies, critical thinking skills, and confidence with complex material.
As a certified Health Educator and medical school graduate, I can teach health-related topics at the middle school, high school, and introductory college levels, including sexual health, mental health, and substance use, in a clear and approachable way.
I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and previously served as the Head Verbal Reasoning and Writing Coach at Let’s Get Ready. I believe every student benefits from a personalized, goal-driven approach, and I tailor each lesson to fit the student’s learning style while leaving time for guided practice and questions.
I’m flexible, easy to reach, and responsive. I welcome feedback and am committed to helping students succeed. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
