I am currently an undergraduate student at Rutgers University majoring in Biotechnology and minoring in Computer Science. I hope to pursue a PhD in a genetics or neuroscience field after my undergraduate career. I have experience in tutoring since high school. I am currently an undergraduate student at Rutgers University majoring in Biotechnology and minoring in Computer Science. I hope to pursue a PhD in a genetics or neuroscience field after my undergraduate career. I have experience in tutoring since high school. I volunteered virtually as a mathematics instructor for elementary school students for over 150 hours, and have 90+ hours of experience in assisting special needs students of varying ages in reading. I have also taught biology, mathematics, and chemistry to my cousins up until their high school years both in person and online. All these experiences have made me comfortable to teach many age groups!

I am very passionate about STEM subjects since my childhood and have thoroughly enjoyed the classes pertaining to those subjects in the past. During high school, I took AP Biology (AP Exam Score: 4), AP Calculus AB and have self studied the topics in AP Calculus BC (AP Exam Score: 4, AB Subsection Exam Score: 5). During my time in college, I have excelled in Genetics (A), and have performed well in Microbiology (B+), General Chemistry (B+), and General Physics. Thus, I am comfortable teaching Biology upto a high school level (and am willing to teach more specific branches like genetics at an introductory college level), Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics from elementary mathematics to Calculus I and Statistics.

Everyone has different styles and methods of learning, and so I do my best to implement an adaptable style of teaching tailored to the student. I often teach through explaining and clarifying conceptual doubts, problem solving, live drawing, or have a lesson plan prepared to teach a complete topic, depending on the subject being taught. I always wish to not only help students understand the material at hand, but also to instill some level of my own passion and appreciation for these subjects in who I teach.

I have also taken a Genetics class in high school to explore the subject further, and excelled with an A in that class. I have also taken College level Genetics and received an A grade in the course. Additionally, I previously worked as a research assistant in a lab which investigates the genetic networks leading to the onset of Parkinson's Disease, which has allowed me to understand how the concepts taught apply in actual research.

Knowledgeable and patient

Anjana has been an excellent biology tutor for my son. She is very patient and explains concepts in a way that my son can understand, which has helped him feel more confident in biology. What I really like about her is how involved and attentive she is—she consistently checks for understanding, encourages questions even after sessions :) and wants to make sure the material is clear. She asks for study and review materials in advance so she can prepare thoroughly and use tutoring time effectively, and she always follows up with detailed notes after each session. Her communication is prompt and thoughtful, and it’s clear she truly cares about her students’ success. My son told me he has a much better understanding and we are very grateful for her help. I highly recommend Anjana.
