Hey there, I'm Vismay! I'm currently a senior at the University of Maryland College Park, studying Computer Science with a minor in Math. In my opinion, math is often the subject that students overlook the most, pushing it away as "useless" because it doesn't align with their career goals. Personally, I've always loved math. After 3 years of taking collegiate level math courses, I've come to realize that it's not that I found the math extremely interesting per se, but rather that the way it was taught to me and was made to be enjoyable. Like any other problem solving subject, at the end of the day, math is a process and if you can nail the process down with practice, there's no problem you can't solve. My aim is to help students master those processes with various tips and tricks. In practice, this looks different for everyone but I like to go through and explain any homework problems given to the student, offer resourceful explanatory videos, and give additional similar practice problems.
I have 2 years of experience volunteer tutoring 9th grade algebra and 10th grade precalculus, where I worked one-on-on with students in individual sessions. I would ask what types of problems they needed help with and walk them through example problems while narrating my thought process and leaving time for questions.
I am comfortable tutoring in any course from Algebra I up to Calculus I. I aim to be a resource that students can reach out to strengthen their math skills and benefit from, and therefore welcome any resources students or parents can provide regarding specific topics/questions.
