Hi, I’m Darsh! I am currently a freshman in the Honors College at Rutgers University on the pre-med track. As a recent high school graduate, AP material is still very fresh for me. I earned mostly 5s on multiple AP exams, with an exception of two 4’s, including AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Calculus BC+AB, AP Stats, AP Psych, AP Env, AP Lit and AP Lang, and finished those courses with near-perfect grades. Because I went through these classes recently, I understand both the content and the structure of the exams, including common mistakes students make and how to approach questions efficiently.
At Rutgers, I have completed Organic Chemistry I and will be completing Organic Chemistry II this May. Taking chemistry at the college level has significantly deepened my understanding of core principles such as reaction mechanisms via MO theories and real world practicalities such as choices of reagents, molecular structure, and conceptual reasoning. This allows me to explain AP and high school material with more depth and clarity, which would be typically further than AP curriculums but it will aid especially when students want to go beyond memorization and really understand why concepts work.
I have several years of experience tutoring high school students one-on-one in general chemistry and calculus. My teaching approach focuses on building strong conceptual foundations first, then reinforcing those ideas through repeated practice, and applications of those concepts are a must, especially for AP Bio. In addition, I worked for about a year as an instructor at Eye Level Learning Center, where I taught students between the ages of 5 and 15 in both small group and individualized settings. I want the students to feel as prepared as possible as I’ve had a similar experience where I did not feel confident in almost any topic, so I am very easy to reach out and always ready to help!
