Hello! My name is Gina P. I am a former special education teacher with a passion for working with individuals with disabilities. I was lucky enough to have found my passion early in life and have been working with children and adults with disabilities for over 20 years. Hello! My name is Gina P. I am a former special education teacher with a passion for working with individuals with disabilities. I was lucky enough to have found my passion early in life and have been working with children and adults with disabilities for over 20 years. I have a B.S. in Special Education with a minor in Autism from Liberty University and am currently licensed in North Carolina in Exceptional Children: General and Adaptive Curriculum, Illinois as a Learning Behavior Specialist, and pending licensure in New Jersey as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities.

As a tutor, it is my job to tailor the instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners on an individual basis. I use a variety of strategies to reinforce content and give students the tools they need to be successful.

I have experience working with students from K-12 with specialization at the elementary level. I have worked with students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, learning disabilities, mild to severe intellectual disabilities, and special medical conditions with a wide range of cognitive levels and abilities. I also understand the need for behavioral/environmental supports and will work with you on an individual basis to determine how else I can contribute to the student's success.

I am highly qualified to teach students with ADHD. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Special Education with a minor in Autism. I am also a certified special education teacher: North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Professional Educator’s License in Exceptional Children: General and Adapted Curriculum (K-12). As an EC teacher, I provide specialized instruction to students with ADHD (under the category of Other Health Impairment) whose condition adversely affects their academic performance.

I have extensive experience teaching foundational reading skills and comprehension skills up to 10th grade. I am trained in Ortin-Gilligham based Wilson's FUNdations Levels 1-3 and the Sonday Intervention System. I use multi-sensory techniques and begin with a needs assessment to determine what has already been mastered and systematically progress through lessons that I supplement with at-home activities for families.
