I am a Swiss and NJ Dept. of Education certified teacher from Bern, Switzerland with over 10 years of world language teaching experience!
I graduated from the Bern University of Teacher Education, where I received my bachelor of arts degree in education, as well as my teacher certification. I immigrated to the United States in 2011 and received my New Jersey teacher certification shortly thereafter. I am a native German and Swiss German speaker. I am also fluent in Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic. I currently conduct Oral Proficiency Interviews to assess German language mastery for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
I am a highly effective teacher and can assist you or your child with your German learning needs. I tutor all ages and all levels, from beginner to advanced learners. I can provide you with instruction on reading, speaking, and writing in German, exam preparation, or business interactions. I can also teach you about German or Swiss culture.
I am patient and understanding with my students, but also very encouraging in a caring and passionate manner :) I use many best practices for teaching a foreign language including listening, reading, speaking, and writing activities, fun games, musical rhymes, role-plays, and visual aids--depending on the needs of you or your child.
