Hi, my name is Ava. I am a junior at the University of Delaware pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science. I am also working to declare a minor in Statistical Data Analytics. Math is my favorite subject, and I have earned high grades throughout middle school, high school, and continue to do so in college. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam and a 4 on the AP Calculus BC exam. My academic background has given me a strong understanding of algebra, calculus (my favorite topic), and the problem-solving skills needed to explain these topics clearly.
I have four years of teaching experience as a preschool assistant teacher, where I primarily worked with children ages 3-4, with additional teaching experience with children ages 2-3 and 4-5. In this role, I taught in a classroom setting and worked both one-on-one with students and in small groups, developing patience, adaptability, and the ability to break down complex ideas into simple, understandable steps. While I have not held an official math tutoring position, I have frequently helped friends and peers in high school and college understand math concepts, study for exams, and build confidence in their skills.
I love helping others and would like to help my students succeed as much as possible. My approach is to identify what students know and what they are stuck on, break down concepts into steps, and provide practice problems to solidify their understanding of the concepts. My goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and can build both understanding and confidence in math.
