Thank you students and parents for reading my profile. Since 2013, I have taught at a high school in Camden, NJ. I teach US History II, Sociology, Philosophy, and Leadership. This summer I am teaching English- Language Arts and study skills. My tutoring methods start with developing a good relationship between me and the student. I am very patient, informative, and I make the lesson interesting and fun. I am a people person. I have a radio background and know how to put someone at ease. Before my current teaching assignment I was a sub for two years for grades k-12 at public and private schools.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to be a basketball tutor on many levels. First, I have been playing basketball for 44 years! I started playing in organized leagues at the age of 11 and still play today. I started two years High school varsity. Second, I currently am an assistant coach for JV and Varsity at leap academy where I work full time. Third, I have coached CYO, girls ages 9-10, and boys JV and varsity. I have 28 years of coaching experience! My style is teaching by example. That would be me showing how to play and also showing videos of prominent high school, college and pro players.
I am qualified to tutor in the subject area of Music History because of my 27 years of being a radio DJ. I have played music from the 1960's to today. Some areas include Adult Contemporary, Pop, Classic Rock, and Rock music. I also took classes in college which ranged from music appreciation to Jazz, Rock, and Cinema.
I am qualified to tutor for the Praxis because I just took the test last year. I am well aware of the test anxiety some test takers go through. I have the techniques to get over that anxiety. I only had to take the Praxis once. I did more than pass. i was 15 points higher than the passing grade. I can help you do well!
First, my major in college was broadcast communication for which I received a BA degree. Second, I have been in the radio field for 27 years. I am an on air DJ in the #1 radio market in the country- New York City. I have been with the New York City station for 4 years. Previously I worked in Philadelphia for 18 years. In all my years in radio I have done countless personal appearance where I have spoken publicly to hundreds and thousands of people. I have also taught public speaking classes at broadcast school and in High school.
I am qualified in the area of study skills for several reasons. One, I am currently teaching two study skills classes to the rising 9th grade at Leap Academy University Charter High School. This is the school where I am currently employed full-time. Second, I understand what to target when it comes to study skills. I just went over time management, study skills for specific subjects, and test taking this past month of summer skills. I have PowerPoints, examples, writing assignments, and projects ready to go!
