Hi, my name is Tyler! I graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. The most important reason for my success was putting in time towards school outside of class time. However, I was not immediately equipped with the study strategies and skills to achieve the scores and comprehension I wanted in my early classes. To find these skills throughout college I found myself frequently using resources at the tutoring center to better understand classes I had fallen behind in, and getting ahead of classes. I want to pass down the skills /strategies I have learned to any new students that are open to learning. I will implement a tailored approach to each individual and how they learn, and retain information best. Study strategies will be provided that can be applied across multiple different subjects. My goal is to make a personal connection with each student to strengthen comprehension and boost confidence. This will lead to students to taking initiative within their own work, and control their own pace of learning.
Another huge factor for me wanting to tutor is specific to what students are going through currently with school years that are drastically different than any year before. Personally, I have a sister that just started high school, and struggled in some classes due to the difficulty of learning online. This was just another driving force that makes me eager to help any student I can. I've seen first hand how students are frustrated from having to lean more heavily on learning bulk of material on their own. This is where I believe I could have a positive impact on improving any student's comprehension and confidence from learning at home.
My core science GPA was a 3.7, where I finished on University of Pittsburgh's Deans List for every semester throughout 4 years. I have also recently studied all science topics for the MCAT exam I took in January 2021. I have conducted multiple study groups during my time within the University of Pittsburgh with groups of 1-3
