I am a high school math teacher, specifically Algebra 2 and Algebra 1, with experience in teaching and tutoring from elementary math through College Algebra. I have a Masters degree from Rider University and a BA in Mathematics from Rutgers University. This school year I am teaching Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and a basic skills math course. Algebra is my absolute favorite subject. During the school year, I not only focus on the current curriculum, but also incorporate review material, lessons to help with standardized testing such as PSAT, SAT, ASVAB, accuplacer, and projects to help get the students to show their creative side. I love teaching and helping others learn and fall in love with math.

I am a dedicated teacher who can provide you with structure and continued support to help with the challenges mathematics can present at times, as well as other subjects. We can work with the curriculum you are currently in, as well as outside areas. I try my best to be flexible and available the days/times that work best for you.

I have been tutoring online for the past 5+ years, assisting students with daily tasks, homework, organization, test prep and overall time management. I take pride in getting to know my tutoring students to make the sessions more enjoyable.

I am accessible outside of our sessions with questions and will make myself available to make sure you are successful. Feel free to reach out at any time.

Elementary (K-6th)

I was an elementary/middle school aide for a year and a half, helping students in a study hall with their coursework. I took the Praxis series test as well as the Texas teaching tests. I have tutored students' and family/friends' children during their elementary years on math, spelling and science. I previously taught 6th grade mathematics this year. All but two of my students passed the STAAR exam. I held tutorials for them after school on Mondays. I also tutored 5-8 grade math on certain Saturdays during the school year. I will ask the parents and students what exactly they need help in. I will prepare lessons that will highlight the topics they are struggling with, incorporating study tools to help reinforce and remember the materials I am presenting. I will also use foldables to help the students in tutorials.

I worked several years in a daycare with after school aged children. I assisted them with math, reinforcing what they did in the classroom that day as well as offering additional support if need be.

I hold a certificate of eligibility in mathematics k-12 for NJ. I have passed the Praxis math content knowledge and the tests necessary for certification in Texas. I have worked as a Special education aide for 1.5 years helping students who needed extra help in the areas of reading, writing, math and science in grades 6-8. I would help them organize their notes, notebooks and homework to help them prepare themselves for the test. I helped them realize the importance of being organized with their school work. I also assisted with students in the younger grades in math. I have tutored friends and family in areas of reading, writing and math. I have helped organize many of them to help them understand the importance of being organized to form better study habits. I would teach the students different techniques for test anxiety (memory dump at the top of the test, deep breaths before the big test, a mint to help calm the nerves), test taking techniques (multiple choice always eliminate the obvious wrong answer, go through the test read all the questions over and then go back to answer the questions working with what the student understands the most first and then go back to others, circling the answers on the test as well as bubbling the answers on the test, never know when one can make a mistake.) and many other note-taking techniques to help the student be well prepared for the upcoming school year.

I have a variety of sample questions to go over and gauge where a student needs more help. I can provide additional support in the areas of weakness. I have sample tests that we can go over and discuss test taking strategies to help calm anxiety surrounding the test.
