My name is Christina and I am a college graduate with a degree in Adolescent Education for Biology with a minor in Psychology from SUNY Cortland in New York. I specialize in grades 7-12. In my education, I have worked with middle school, high school, and college-aged students through tough concepts in the biological sciences. I am a certified Biology teacher in both New Jersey and New York State. Additionally, I have tutored for grades 7-12 and introductory biology for college students for the past four years. I have experience tutoring students for the NYS Regents Exam, AP Biology and AP Psychology.

Being both a teacher and tutor throughout my career, I have learned how to work with student's needs differently. I understand that the concepts taught in the classroom are often fast-paced and taught in one or two different ways to help a group of students, rather than each individual. My goal when I am tutoring is to explain concepts in ways that we teachers struggle to do in class, based solely on the individual needs of the student. I like drawing and finding visuals, providing students with pneumonic devices, breaking down difficult key words, and creating diagrams to highlight different ways to view information and generate an individualized learning plan. I want to make sure no student feels discouraged when studying with me. I have taken five years’ worth of biology and science-related courses and I understand how difficult the constant change of science can be. I want to create an environment when tutoring to best help my student in the best way they learn (visuals, auditory, etc.), and if they do not know what it is, my goal is to also help them find out. I would love to help you in any way that I can! Please reach out if you are interested or have any questions!

Environmental Science

Environmental Science

As a high school biological sciences teacher, I am certified to teach biology, ecology, and environmental science. I have taught high school environmental science to both general education and special education classes, giving a varied instruction across students with different lab abilities. As a current environmental science teacher, I teach students how humans impact the environment. This includes discussions about sustainability, ecology, populations, agriculture, urbanization, pollution, and energy resources.
Genetics

Genetics

As a senior biology major and teacher at the high school level, I have knowledge of the genetics curriculum. I have tutored for 3 years, often helping students with DNA replication, transcription, translation, punnet squares, and biotechnology. These are common areas of struggle for many students.
Physiology

Physiology

I am a senior in college studying biology for the past four years. I have taken human physiology and worked closely with my professor in labs studying the human senses and muscles. I also have experience tutoring biology students on the mechanisms of the human body systems, such as action potentials and feedback loops that make up the physiology of our body. I can assist in an introduction to human physiology course or any biology course studying the human body.
