I have taught Spanish over the last 25 years from high school to college. The courses I instructed included lower level classes all the way up to AP courses. My students consistently achieved 5's, the highest mark on the AP exam, over the 12 years I was in charge.
I have an extensive travel background that has allowed me to achieve a near native level in Spanish. I have been to Spain 10 times over the last 30 years, some times staying for many months. In addition, I have spent 1 month in Mexico, and 3 weeks in Venezuela.
I am able to simplify complicated ideas and to drill them so that students can easily internalize vocabulary and grammar. Lessons are made fun when we avail ourselves of the myriad of materials that can be found on the Internet. That said, there's still a great need to have a coach, navigator, and instructor to help the student achieve high levels of understanding and fluency. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
