About Christine

I tutor all levels of French including AP(Language and Literature)and English as a Second Language as well as English/Language Arts to students of all ages. I have a very wide range of experience in the US and France teaching French and English to children from pre-school through High School, College students and Professionals. I was educated at the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Nice in France. I have enjoyed a very successful 28 year teaching career. Having had the opportunity to teach and mentor students for so many years, I am familiar with all classic teaching methods and materials in addition to current trends and innovative strategies with the goal to motivate, inspire and ensure academic success. I believe that the tutor-student relationship is an optimal way to develop a customized and personalized approach to achieve a student's goals and instill confidence. I have a positive, creative and proactive approach to teaching and, understanding that learning a foreign language can be challenging, I am very patient and highly perceptive when it comes to individual needs and recognizing strengths and areas in need of improvement, and have been very successful at helping my students reach their fullest potential. As literature has always been of great interest to me and I enjoy creative writing, I have helped students write essays, dissertations and term papers as well as improve reading comprehension, thus preparing them for major tests (for English and French) such as the Achievement, SAT, SAT II. Having taught High School classes in AP French Language and AP Literature I am very familiar with the tests and competent strategies on how to best prepare students to achieve their highest possible scores. Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As I mention in my profile I have had over 28 years of teaching ESL in the USA and France, and am currently working with many students, children and adults of all nationalities helping them become more proficient at English. Often this occurs with a special focus on American English, particularly for those in Corporate Language Training. I am working with employees, spouses and children of employees from companies such as Novartis, Merck, Siemens, BASF, Bayer. I am familiar with current methods and tailor my lessons to fit the needs of each individual student.

As a French teacher and tutor for over 28 years, I have taught all ages and all levels to speak French. I work with students in High School, grade school, and college as well as adults in corporate training - having been a Language and Cultural Trainer at L'Oreal for 13 years, am currently teaching adults with companies such as Novartis, Merck, Johnson & Johnson, etc. I have enjoyed preparing traveler's to France and French-speaking countries, have taught toddlers so they get a good head start in the language, spent many years teaching in Adult Education and Language schools, as well as 5 levels of French, including AP Language and Literature at the High School level.
