With 25 years of experience teaching English Language Arts at both the middle and high school levels, I bring a depth of knowledge, perspective, and proven practice that few tutors can offer. Over the course of my career, I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities—struggling readers, reluctant writers, advanced learners, and students preparing for high-stakes assessments. This experience has allowed me to develop a flexible, student-centered approach that meets learners where they are and helps them grow with confidence.
Holding a Master’s degree in Education, I pair strong instructional theory with practical, classroom-tested strategies. I understand not only what to teach in ELA, but how and why students learn best. My instruction is rooted in clear skill-building—reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing structure, grammar, and vocabulary—while also emphasizing critical thinking, discussion, and real-world application.
Having taught in both middle and high school settings, I am especially skilled at supporting students through key academic transitions. I help middle school students build foundational literacy skills and confidence, and I guide high school students in mastering complex texts, strengthening analytical writing, and preparing for college-level expectations. I am also experienced in aligning instruction to standards, assignments, and assessments, ensuring tutoring sessions directly support classroom success.
