Hello! My name is Katy (she/her) and I am an experienced college essay editor with availability for new clients. I am a lifelong reader, writer, and editor with significant experience with contemporary fiction, poetry, and non-fiction writing and editing. My approach to college essay review is to offer concrete copy edits (grammar, punctuation etc), and broader stylistic suggestions (emphasis on suggestions) to develop a student's personal voice and narrative. I strongly believe that there can be too many cooks in the proverbial kitchen, and my foremost role as an editor is help develop the writer's own voice and confidence in it.
A little on me: I graduated from Newark Academy, where I completed the full IB Diploma, and attended the Iowa Young Writers Camp and Kenyon Young Writer's Camp. Following that, I graduated from Northwestern University with my BA in Art History and Political Science, with a 3.92 GPA. Most recently, I completed my MA at the Courtauld Institute of Art in Art History, having completed my 10,000 dissertation on artist Ellen Gallagher and her somatic and temporal transformations of the Modernist grid.
I am experienced English tutor and tutored six students from elementary school to high school ages while attending Northwestern. I have edited and provided feedback on the college essays of highly qualified candidates for target schools.
