About Nakshatra

Bio

My first tutoring job was as a part-time tutor at a local tutoring center in High School. I also had my own academy, where I taught students from underprivileged and underserved communities in NJ how to code, free-of-cost. I created my own lesson plans, and led two cohorts of classes for grades K-8, and gave students comprehensive homework and helped them build innovative projects. That helped me discover my passion for teaching, and I knew I wanted to continue that in college.

To continue my passion for teaching, I began my own tutoring business in college, which I run currently. I have successfully helped students bring their grades up from C's to A's, all while teaching them life skills like organization, time management, and common testing skills. I really like working with students in grades K-8 because I believe that is one of the most crucial periods of a child's education, which plays a huge role in their development. It is important to teach them values that they can later carry on into college and eventually, into their career.

I still remember the tutor I had in middle school, and to me, they were more than just a tutor. They were a role model that I looked up to, and I think that's all it takes. One good tutor. That can make a child truly want to learn. Curiosity can take you places, and that's why I approach each tutoring session with the utmost care, preparation, and clarity. I love working with kids and hope to continue tutoring, possibly in a full-time role in the future! I have been tutoring for 5+ years, and I hope to continue my love for teaching and spreading knowledge.

I am excited about the potential to work with you/your student. I always approach each tutoring session with empathy, and have regular meetings with parents to discuss expectations and learn more about the student's learning style. I am eager to work with parents and students to personalize the experience and help them students make a genuine improvement!

Elementary (K-6th)

I have over five years of experience tutoring elementary and middle school students, with a strong focus on foundational reading, writing, mathematics, science, social studies, study skills, and academic confidence. I previously worked at a local tutoring center where I supported over 50 K–8 students in language arts, math, and standardized test preparation. In that role, I helped manage student portfolios, graded assignments, tracked student progress, and communicated with parents and guardians about each student’s academic growth. In addition to my tutoring center experience, I have run my own tutoring program and have worked individually with elementary-aged students across multiple grade levels. I have tutored approximately ten students through my own program and currently work with several elementary and middle school students on a regular basis. My experience has taught me how to adjust lessons for different learning styles, break down difficult concepts into age-appropriate steps, and build a positive learning environment for younger students. I believe elementary education is especially important because it helps students develop the confidence, habits, and academic foundation they need for future success.

Project Management

Project Management

I have academic and practical experience in project management through college coursework, leadership roles, and hands-on project work. I recently completed INST 311, a college-level project management course that covered key concepts such as project planning, timelines, stakeholder communication, team coordination, risk management, and project execution. This coursework helped me build a stronger understanding of how projects are organized, monitored, and completed successfully. Outside of the classroom, I have served as a Product Manager for the past two years with a student club, where I have helped plan features, organize team responsibilities, communicate project goals, and guide projects from idea to implementation. We have successfully handed off complete products to two nonprofits. I have also led multiple side projects that required setting milestones, coordinating with teammates, managing deadlines, and adapting plans when challenges came up. In addition, my five-plus years of tutoring and teaching experience have helped me explain complex ideas clearly and adjust my approach based on each student’s needs. These experiences have prepared me to help students understand both the theory and real-world application of project management.
