I'm a current graduate student in The New School Creative Writing MFA program. I also have a Master's in English and American Literature from New York University (2024). I received Bachelor's degrees in History and Comparative Literature & Society at Columbia University (2020).

In addition to Wyzant, I worked as a literature guide writer for LitCharts. Before that, I was an online tutor through Chegg Tutors for five years, and taught lessons in U.S. history, European history, world history, American literature, writing, philosophy, psychology, environmental science, international relations, sociology, music, and art, in addition to editing academic essays.

I am passionate about history, literature, and all humanities and social studies subjects. I am also a creative writer (mainly a historical novelist) and love to edit and give feedback on other writers' work. I have extensive research and writing experience through my coursework in history, comparative literature, English, and philosophy at Columbia. I received departmental honors in both the History and Comparative Literature & Society departments, and one of my senior theses, "Cities of Defeat: Spanish Civil War Refugees and the French Concentration Camps of 1939" won the Columbia History department's Charles A. Beard Prize as well as the George Watt Prize. I have also received multiple creative writing awards through National YoungArts Foundation and the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. I have reading knowledge of Spanish, French, and German. Please reach out if you'd like to schedule a lesson in any humanities subject!

Knowledgeable and outstanding tutor

Emmaline is very easy to work with. She focuses the entire time on working towards a goal for each session. This is important because in a philosophy course, the tutor can easily get distracted and go off the rails. She will start the work, not just wait for the student. Emmaline helped me to get a very good grade in the class. She doesn't change the student's arguments or views. Besides offering ideas, she makes the wording, the grammar, the style and flow of thought as polished as possible. Very strongly recommend her.

10th Grade World History

My son was on the verge of failing 10th Grade World History. This class was least favorite subject. Late in the semester we found Emmaline, and obtained 5 to 6 sessions. Thanks to Emmaline, he made the highest grade in his class on the final exam.

Excellent session!

Emmaline did a great job of outlining the scope of work covered after the session was complete. My child told me that she feels much more confident with the work after just 1 session. Glad I found her

Knowledgeable, patient--knows her philosophy!

Amazing help with philosophy, does well at explaining the material. She's patient and professional, does an exceptional job of breaking down the material for you to understand it and produce the answers and quality of work you are looking for. She's worth every penny!
