Teaching is my life-long passion and vocation. To me, there is nothing better than helping a student make the abstract world of atoms, molecules and equations accessible. I've been teaching Honors and AP Chemistry for 20+ years at a top magnet high school - including hundreds of hours of tutoring students. I've been named "Teacher of the Year" at my school three times and love making chemistry relatable to everyone. I've also guided many students in STEM research projects in preparation for selective research competitions like ISEF and STS.

I recognize that each student I work has unique needs and challenges. No two tutoring sessions are identical. However, my practice in tutoring is to address the specific problems the student is having, provide an example problem of my own to assess the situation, follow-up with a mini-lesson to address the students individual needs, then provide additional practice. Chemistry is a subject that builds on prior knowledge. A student requires a critical foundation - and if there are gaps in their understanding I aim to help them address those gaps to get them back on the right track.

I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Drew University. My area of specialty in tutoring is high school chemistry at all levels (Regular, College-Prep, Honors, AP), but I am well-versed in the content in first-year General Chemistry courses offered at the college/university level. I've also guided students with test preparation for the SAT II Chemistry Subject Test.
