Hi, I'm Sandro! I am an Italian-born musician currently living in New Jersey. I earned a Master in Vocal Performance Degree from the Music Conservatoire of Pescara (Italy) and a Master of Arts Degree from Rome University. Beyond my musical activity as a singer and a conductor, I devote myself to Literature, and I'm a cinema, theatre and visual arts enthusiast as well. I started to teach more than 20 years ago, and since then teaching has been developing as a true passion for me.

In one-to-one lessons, as well as in seminars and workshops, I like to create a very informal and yet focused atmosphere with the pupils, with the right balance between seriousness and fun. I have teaching experience with all kind of people: from amateurs to professional musicians, from academic environments to private language lessons.

As a native speaker, I like to teach Italian mostly starting from conversation, gradually pointing out grammar rules so that the pupil can learn the language in a sort of integrated way. Teaching level is obviously customized to the student’s needs and experience, and aims to make the student able to speak, understand and read in the shortest possible time.

As a musician, my career has taken me to almost thirty countries throughout the world; beyond performing as a singer and a conductor, I published several essays as a musicologist, and I gave seminars and lectures in several American universities. But no fear: ease remains my watchword!

Excellent methodology

Sandro is not only a native speaker, he also understands different learning styles and adjusts his teaching to meet the student’s needs and ability level. I recommend him whole heartedly, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate speaker, or expert.

Patient, kind, and extremely knowledgable

I've worked with Sandro for over a year now and am so impressed by the growth and comfort I've gained. He's helped not only with grammar, but my listening comprehension and speaking Italian have improved greatly, which were my biggest hurdles. He is consistently pleasant and patient, and has a wealth of knowledge. I am very grateful I found Sandro as my tutor!

skill and professional tutor

Sandro Naglia mi ha insegnato a utilizzare diaframma e risuonatori e a prendere pause per non stressare la laringe. In questo periodo di smart working sono costretta a utilizzare la voce in modo indiretto e mediato dal pc, col risultato che spesso alla fine della giornata avevo mal di gola ed ero quasi afona! Le lezioni sono molto creative, si passa dal canto alla lettura di brani teatrali, che imparo a leggere in modalità differenti. Che dire? bravo Sandro Naglia!

Highly Qualified & Personable Tutor

I've been working with Sandro for the past two months and have really enjoyed our sessions. He provides the right balance of formal grammar instruction and informal speaking practice. He is a native Italian speaker, experienced instructor with expertise in diction, and is well-versed in regional differences through Italy. No matter your level, I highly recommend him to learn Italian in a fun way!

Great tutor!

We started with grammar and easy conversation, it was exactly what i needed. He also sent me links to grammar tutorials. Sandro is patient and personable and easy to converse with. It made the time fly by.

It was a wonderful lesson! I had a lot of fun talking - in Italian - about all sorts of topics today!

Congenial and knowledgeable teacher!

Sandro taught me how to conjugate two groups of Italian verbs - in just the first lesson! I am also beginning to grasp how to use past participles for the first group of verbs ("are" verbs). He sent me very instructive videos to reinforce this learning and also a list of Italian articles. I am very optimistic that I am finally going to learn another language!
