I started tutoring in high school through my math club, working with middle-school students on algebra and geometry for about two hours a week over 1.5 school years. Later, I tutored high-school math through the National Honor Society in one-on-one sessions, mostly helping students break down homework problems or prepare for exams by walking through the logic step by step instead of jumping straight to formulas. I earned a 1520 on the SAT with a 770 in math and took several AP courses, scoring 5s in Calculus BC, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Language, U.S. History, and World History, plus 4s in Statistics, Environmental Science, and English Literature.
My approach is structured but conversation-driven. I start by defining the goal, break problems into small steps, and confirm each one before moving forward. For SAT math, I emphasize efficient reasoning — spotting the simplest valid method and using elimination when solving fully isn’t time-effective. I often write short equations or sketch quick visuals live so students see the logic happen, which sticks better than just hearing it.
What matters most to me is helping students trust their own process. I aim to make sessions clear and engaging so they leave feeling more confident and more independent than when they started.
