My name is Jovanni D. I am currently in my 8th year of teaching English at a majority English Language Learner school in New York City. I received my Master's Degree in English Education from Lehman College in 2019, and currently hold a Professional Certification with the New York City Department of Education.
In my time as a teacher, I have worked with students from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds with varying degrees of English proficiency. During my day to day lessons, there is a heavy emphasis on providing students with work that engages them in reading, writing, and speaking in English. This work revolves around their experiences in the world, with appropriate and rigorous text, and with themselves.
I have experience teaching in a full classroom setting (anywhere from 15-32 students) and also in one-to-one tutoring, which I do after school and on Saturdays for test prep and English proficiency. It is my hope to work with anyone who is looking to get ahead and progress in their life or English development.
