Bio

I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. I began as a substitute in various school districts in Somerset County. I then had a year long position as an aide. At that time I began taking classes at Rutgers University and received a certificate for Special Education.

With my Special Education certificate I got a job teaching third grade. In my first year teaching I worked with kindergarten, first grade, third grade, fifth, sixth grade, seventh, and eighth grade students.

I am currently a middle school Social Studies Special Education teacher. I have a resource room Social Studies class teaching students in sixth through eighth grade. I co-teach inclusion Social Studies in grades seven and eight as well as inclusion seventh grade science.

Over the past ten years I have been working with students with ADD and ADHD. I work with students in grades 3-8. Each students individualized Education plan explains their ADD or ADHD diagnosis.

Over the past several school years I have been able to teach a variety of science classes. I have taught basic science skills to Kindergarten and third graders. More recently I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science.

This year I am teaching Resource Room Social Studies and we are focusing on Geography Skills. Students are learning how to be able to read maps. As the weeks go on students will be creating their own maps and have to create questions that navigate their map.

I have been a Special Education teacher for the past three years. I currently teach a sign language enrichment class to middle school students. I am working on a certification in American Sign Language.

There are a variety of reading programs that we use in Green Brook. Depending on her reading level I have activities and lessons that assist in the reading progress. We focus on reading comprehension, being able to pull out key details and so much more.

I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education and have been a Special Education teacher for the past ten years. I have experience working with students with behavior problems along with anger management. I am certified in restraint training. I also have experience working with students with different needs such as ADD, ADHD, Aspergers, and Autism. I am also working on a certification in American Sign Language.
