Helping Students Build Confidence in Math, Reading & Writing

I am a certified elementary educator with more than 15 years of experience teaching 5th grade students in a public school setting. Throughout my career, I have specialized in helping students strengthen their skills in mathematics, reading comprehension, and writing. I was recently honored as Educator of the Year, which reflects my commitment to creating engaging lessons, building student confidence, and helping students reach their academic goals. In addition to my classroom teaching experience, I have worked closely with students at varying academic levels and learning styles, allowing me to tailor instruction to meet individual needs.

My teaching approach focuses on building both understanding and confidence. I believe students learn best when instruction is interactive, supportive, and connected to real-world thinking. I use guided practice, targeted questioning, and step-by-step modeling to help students break down challenging concepts into manageable parts. Whether students are working on multi-step math problems, reading comprehension, vocabulary development, or writing organization, I aim to make learning approachable while also encouraging critical thinking and independence.

Over the years, I have taught hundreds of upper elementary students in both whole-class and small-group settings. I regularly work one-on-one with students who need additional support, enrichment, or help building foundational skills. My experience includes supporting struggling learners, helping students improve organization and study habits, and preparing students for success in the classroom. I take pride in building positive relationships with students and families and creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and growing academically.
