I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, completing my degree in three years through the Honors College. Alongside my academic coursework, I pursued rigorous scientific training through research in bioengineering and extensive upper-level biology and chemistry courses. My strong foundation in the sciences naturally led me toward teaching roles, and for two years, I served as a Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry, one of the university’s most challenging and demanding sequences.
In this role, I led weekly recitation sessions, guided students through problem-solving strategies, and developed structured, step-by-step approaches to help them think critically about reaction mechanisms and molecular structure. I worked closely with professors to design review materials, create practice problems, and clarify complex concepts in ways that felt intuitive and accessible. My teaching style emphasized breaking down intimidating content into manageable pieces, using pattern recognition, visual mapping, and active learning techniques to build students’ confidence.
Throughout my time as a TA, I worked with students across a wide range of academic backgrounds—typically sophomores and juniors preparing for careers in medicine or research. Whether in small-group recitations, one-on-one tutoring, or extended office hours before exams, I focused on meeting students where they were and adapting explanations to their individual needs. This experience sharpened my communication skills, deepened my own understanding of organic chemistry, and solidified my passion for helping students learn challenging scientific material in a supportive and engaging environment.
