My background includes a degree in classical language study, focused on Latin grammar, translation, and literature, as well as writing-intensive coursework that helped me coach others in essay structure and clear communication. I discovered early on that I enjoy helping students build confidence by breaking down complex ideas in a way that makes sense to them.
Since then, I’ve worked one-on-one with middle and high school students in math, mainly in pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. I focus on helping students understand why concepts work, not just how to solve problems. I adjust my approach based on each student’s learning style and always try to make sessions focused, calm, and productive.
I also teach beginner through advanced guitar and music composition. I’ve been playing guitar and writing original music for over twenty years, and I love helping students explore chords, rhythm, and songwriting. I welcome learners at any starting point, and I aim to make music lessons creative, encouraging, and fun.
Across all subjects, I prioritize patience, clarity, and building trust. I’ve worked with students ages 12 through adult and always create a space where it’s okay to ask questions, experiment, and keep growing.
