Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a high school math teacher who is passionate about helping students truly understand math, not just memorize steps. I currently teach mathematics in a high school classroom where I work with students in courses such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics. My educational background is in mathematics and education, and my classroom experience has given me strong insight into the challenges many students face when learning math concepts.
In my classroom, I teach students ranging from freshmen through seniors, and I regularly support students at different ability levels. I have experience helping students with Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I work with students both in whole-class instruction and in smaller groups, which allows me to adjust explanations and strategies based on each student’s learning style. Many of my students come to me feeling frustrated with math, so I focus on breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps and helping them build confidence along the way.
My tutoring approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I guide students through problems step by step, ask questions to help them think critically, and make sure they can explain the reasoning behind their work. Whether a student needs help reviewing foundational skills, preparing for an exam, or staying on track in their course, my goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and developing their mathematical thinking.

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am a high school math teacher with experience teaching and supporting students in Algebra and advanced high school mathematics. In my classroom, I regularly help students develop strong algebraic reasoning skills, including solving linear and quadratic equations, working with systems of equations, manipulating expressions, and interpreting functions. I also support students in connecting algebraic concepts to more advanced topics such as polynomial and rational functions, exponential models, and problem solving. Through my teaching experience, I have worked with students at different skill levels and have helped many who initially struggled with algebra build confidence and improve their understanding. I focus on breaking problems down step by step, identifying common mistakes, and helping students understand the reasoning behind each process rather than simply memorizing procedures. My goal is to help students feel comfortable approaching complex algebra problems and develop the skills they need to succeed in their coursework.
Common Core

Common Core

I am a high school math teacher with experience teaching students using Common Core math standards. In my classroom, I help students understand mathematical concepts by breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps and focusing on the reasoning behind each solution. I regularly work with students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Precalculus, and Calculus, helping them build strong problem-solving skills and confidence in math. My goal is to help students move beyond memorizing procedures so they can truly understand and apply mathematical concepts.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I am a high school math teacher with experience teaching and supporting students in advanced mathematics courses, including Precalculus. In my teaching, I regularly work with students on topics such as functions and their transformations, polynomial and rational functions, trigonometric functions, parametric equations, and logarithmic and exponential models. I help students connect algebraic, graphical, and numerical representations so they can develop a deeper understanding of how these concepts work. Through my classroom experience, I have supported students with a range of abilities and helped many build confidence in challenging topics commonly covered in Precalculus. My approach focuses on breaking complex problems into clear, manageable steps, identifying common misconceptions, and helping students understand the reasoning behind each solution. My goal is to help students strengthen their problem-solving skills and feel more comfortable approaching rigorous math coursework.
