Hello! My name is Kayla and I am a high school math teacher who is passionate about helping students truly understand math, not just memorize steps. I currently teach mathematics in a high school classroom where I work with students in courses such as Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics. My educational background is in mathematics and education, and my classroom experience has given me strong insight into the challenges many students face when learning math concepts.
In my classroom, I teach students ranging from freshmen through seniors, and I regularly support students at different ability levels. I have experience helping students with Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I work with students both in whole-class instruction and in smaller groups, which allows me to adjust explanations and strategies based on each student’s learning style. Many of my students come to me feeling frustrated with math, so I focus on breaking problems down into clear, manageable steps and helping them build confidence along the way.
My tutoring approach focuses on understanding concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I guide students through problems step by step, ask questions to help them think critically, and make sure they can explain the reasoning behind their work. Whether a student needs help reviewing foundational skills, preparing for an exam, or staying on track in their course, my goal is to create a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and developing their mathematical thinking.
