My name is Gregory I., and I am a General education teacher at I.S 219 New Venture School. I am a licensed English teacher for grades 7-12. I have been part of the New York City Department of Education for six years. Throughout that period, I taught at the middle and high school levels. I began my teaching career as a New Visions Urban Teacher resident and was part of the first New Visions cohort at Queens College. The program was a rigorous two-year program, and I obtained my Master of Art in Secondary English Education for grades 7-12.

I began teaching in the summer of 2018 at Gregory Jocko Jackson Middle School of Sports, Arts, and Technology in Brownsville, New York. However, I have spent most of my teaching career in the Bronx. I taught for three years at Worldview High School and am now in my second year at I.S 219 New Venture.

I have taught in many communities throughout New York City, such as Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. Because of the supportive environment, I'm proud to be a New York City public school teacher at I.S 219 New Venture in the South Bronx. My current practice focuses on improving my student's reading comprehension and writing skills via vocabulary instruction. My current collaboration with teachers, coaches, and service providers is all to serve my students' needs best and grow professionally.
