I am a versatile humanities teacher with a strong interest and experience in history (American and European), Spanish, dramatic literature and performance, and the academic development of students through Socratic learning. I have a degree in Communications from Northwestern University, and I am certified to teach Theater (grades K-12), Social Studies (grades 5-8), and Spanish (grades 5-8) in New Jersey. I have taught American and World History in public, charter, and private schools as well as drama and public speaking to grade school and middle school students. Throughout my teaching career, I have tutored students for the purpose of improving performance in a particular class as well as intellectual growth. Because each student is unique and has different learning methods, needs, and goals, I try to customize my tutoring for each student. However, when it comes to working with texts, I work Socratically, attempting to reach a level of critical thinking through a dialogue of questions and answers. I am comfortable working with middle and high school students and can offer engaging tutoring in the following subjects: American history, European history, beginning and intermediate Spanish, dramatic literature, and performance/public speaking.
