I teach at an expert level in the subjects of writing (high school, college and professional), bar exam prep and law school writing and substantive courses. I have over 12 years bar prep experience with near perfect pass rates, and originally taught my bar prep course for Rutgers Law School to all graduating 3L's, and now teach privately in one-on-one and group settings. My bar course is known for reducing the bar exam preparation to a known universe of recurring testable issues in an anxiety-free and emotionally supportive setting that is designed to attend to unique learning styles in a formalized process.
In addition to bar prep, I am notoriously highly regarded for my method of preparing students for the demands of law school and have tutored countless students prior to law school in preparation for its demands, and during law school to tackle the unique writing and analytical requirements of substantive law and legal writing courses. I have also tutored law students for Rutgers using similar methods to my bar prep course.
In the writing realm, with a significant writing background, including several notable published and award-winning papers and articles, I have a unique ability to help students write clear and thoughtful essays in substantive course work, both at the college and law school level.
I graduated both undergraduate and law studies with distinction, the former in the top two percent of my class and the latter in the top 5. However, I achieved my academic success through much personal sacrifice and as a result am a compassionate and nurturing instructor.

Everything I wanted and more!
When I set out to find a tutor, I wanted someone to help prepare me for the academic rigors I would be facing in 1L at a top 10 Ivy League law school (e.g. reading cases, briefing, outlining, and legal writing). In Debbie I found someone not only able to meet this task, but also able to provide much more. First, she took the time to understand my learning style and then structured in depth lesson plans and assignments based around that style. No doubt a refreshing change from the one method fits all structure of Kaplan and Barbri. Second, she provided educational, motivational, and emotional support leading up to and during school. Indeed, she has given me as much support and encouragement as any parent or educator. Finally, she has provided me with the kind of long view perspective and practical training that will serve me far beyond the classroom. A fact that has already become apparent in my interactions with legal professionals and professors. It's also part of the many reasons why I plan on using her throughout school and the bar. In short, I have the utmost praise for Debbie as a professional and as a person.Adam, 39 lessons with DeborahTutor responded:
Adam you are a joy to me and watching you progress and grow into a sharp and capable lawyer-in-training is so gratifying. Seeing your first assignments first semester of law school warms my heart! You are ready for this and we have done it all before. You will kill law school!
She is a very nice person. She is an expert. She is a tutor for MBE students. Therefore, she is familiar with all the law school subject. She can help you figure out points which you do not understand at school.Charlie, 15 lessons with Deborah
Nothing Short of Amazing
I am honored and privileged to have come across Deborah for tutoring for the bar exam. She has provided me with the necessary tools to stay on track with my bar studies given my busy schedule (I work full-time, am a mom of two and a wife). I was struggling tremendously on how to manage my time appropriately. Needless to say, she relates to me in so many ways. She is well-informed via experience and research and knows exactly how to target what is necessary for exam success. There is no fluff nor are there any excuses when it comes to her. She gets straight to the point and remains honest at every turn. I know that she truly cares about my success and I appreciate her accepting me as a client. I would recommend her to anyone who may be struggling with preparation for the exam. Her methods are well-studied and very effective. So be prepared to put in the work and trust the process :)Randall, 8 lessons with Deborah
I Passed my Bar Exam With Deborah's help!
Because of Deborah, I PASSED the Texas Bar Exam! After diligently sitting through a well-known Bar review course, I began to panic as my scores on the practice exams were subpar. I realized that I would not pass the Bar Exam if something didn’t change. I was reviewing my options when I ran across Deborah’s name. I debated for two weeks as to whether or not I should contact a tutor, and with less than a month remaining, I took a major leap of faith and contacted Deborah. Although she hadn’t ever tutored anyone from Texas, she agreed to help me with the MBE portion of the exam. (This woman doesn't half you-know-what anything though, and she ended up helping me with the entire exam!) Deborah is unlike anyone I have ever met! She is so engaging, energetic, and intelligent. I left each session feeling ready to take on the world---Rocky style! At first I was skeptical because I am used to people from the South, and Deborah is clearly a Yankee, but let me tell you what, she has got to be one of the most kind, intelligent, and caring people I have ever met. This woman is a go-getter, and as her student, I had no choice but to want to meet her expectations! I should also note that two weeks before the exam, I found out I would not receive accommodations on the Bar exam. That didn’t faze Deborah, and she laid out a detailed plan for me to follow, so I always knew what to do…every hour of the day! She made the bar prep process manageable and (dare I say it) enjoyable! You should know that Deborah’s method works. Make no mistake; you will work your behind off, especially if you wait until the last minute to contact her. But if she takes you under her wing, you are set! Deborah is an absolute God-send, and three weeks after our first meeting, I was prepared. I truly feel so blessed to be able to say that I passed the heck out of the Texas Bar Exam. Thanks again, Deborah! I’m going to miss you!Courtney, 6 lessons with Deborah
Deborah was absolutely fantastic. I had failed the NJ Bar twice before I hired her and I hired her in early July for the July exam this year. She took me on, PUT ME TO WORK, but did so in a manner where I felt confident in what I was doing and not overwhelmed. It was a joy to work with her and I couldn't have done it without her.Tony, 4 lessons with Deborah
Great way of explaining and knew exactly what I need help with. Thoroughly went over how to structure the new and why crack is important for the memo section of the Nala test.Rich, 3 lessons with Deborah
When I took the Pennsylvania bar exam in July 2016, I used a commercial bar prep course. I completed 85% of that course. However, when I sat down to take the July bar exam, I felt woefully unprepared. I struggled with the MBE questions. None of those questions looked the least bit familiar to me, and I had completed hundreds of simulated questions that my bar prep course had prepared for me. I struggled with the essays. I did not know where to begin or how to structure them. I spent precious time during the exam structuring essays that should have been relatively simple if I had been properly prepared. I even struggled with the PT because I lost valuable time on the other essays. Needless to say, I failed. I was heartbroken. I had wasted countless hours studying the wrong way for the most important test of my life. I had no idea what I did wrong, so I had no hope of correcting it. Then I discovered Deborah. She was a godsend! Her structured method of study helped me to study smarter instead of harder. I actually spent less time studying and was able to work full time at a center city law firm until just 2 weeks before the February bar exam. Is she a great tutor? The results speak for themselves - I passed the Pennsylvania Bar with 42 points to spare! I can't recommend her highly enough. Thank you, Deborah. Not only did you teach me how to pass this monster of a test, but you also helped me get my swagger back. Much gratitude to you, and love to your three precious pups.Tara, 9 lessons with Deborah
Great writing coach.
Really helped bring my law school transfer personal statement to another level. Helped shape the story of my background and want I want out of my law school experience. Couldn't be happier.ALEX, 3 lessons with Deborah
Well versed in the material.
Debbie was very knowledgeable as to the material covered and helped me to craft a perspective that I would not have formed were it not for her assistance. There are certain things that you cannot get in the classroom due to various constraints that she can help fill in to broaden your understanding of the subject matter.David, 2 lessons with Deborah
Could not be more thankful!
I contacted Debbie ~ 3 weeks ago. So far I have learned and done more in the last 3 weeks than I did in a month of studying prior to contacting Debbie. No only is she super knowledgable but she has great advice on how to approach MBE questions and essays. Thank yours much Debbie! Will when results come out!!!Maria, 5 lessons with Deborah
