For over 20 years as a special education teacher and Educational Diagnostician / Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, I have been helping students with ADHD by creating instructional plans, developing strategies to assist with inattention / hyperactivity, breaking down assignments, improving organization, and establishing time management routines/skills. As an evaluator on a Child Study Team, I administered and interpreted educational evaluations to determine if a child meets eligibility state / federal criteria for special education / related services under various categories including the educational classification of Other Health Impairment (ADHD). I collaborated with medical doctors and/or psychologists to assist with the completion of various behavior rating scales to assist with gathering details required to properly diagnose ADHD (i.e. Connor Comprehensive Behavior Rating Scales and NICHQ Vanderbilt Assessment Scales). As a member of the school’s Response to Intervention (RTI) team I also served / partnered with general education teachers to assist with the development / implementation of skills required to maintain written documentation, including data, setting forth the type of interventions utilized, the frequency and duration of each intervention, and the effectiveness of each intervention for students with ADHD. In 2009, I developed and taught a graduate level course Special Topics in Special Education - ADHD (Summer of 2009 (ADHD) as an Adjunct Professor. In 2016, I developed and delivered a school-wide district-wide training entitled Attention Deficit Disabilities Disorder – Overview and Interventions).

My additional training includes the completion of a Dyslexia Certificate program which was built upon the latest research and best practices for working with students with dyslexia and met the International Dyslexia Association’s (IDA) Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teacher of Reading, and is recognized with IDA accreditation. This (17-credit) focused graduate program provided me with a high quality of instruction from faculty with a rich background of work in K-12 reading environments.

Extremeley knowledgeable and thorough and patient tutor

Beth completed a brief assessment for my high school-aged daughter. She provided my daughter with three (3) targeted strategies to assist with improving her executive functioning skills and organization due to her ADHD. The knowledge base and expertise that Beth brought to this initial tutoring session is immense. I am so lucky to have found someone for my child with such a depth of real-world experiences to pull from to help our specific situation. It was amazing. Thank you, Beth, for helping my child (and us).

Knowledgeable, reliable, and amazing tutor/editor!

Beth D. provided editing support for a doctoral dissertation related to proofreading, APA 7 guidelines and general formatting. She was extremely reliable and responsive, engaging, and absolutely lovely to work with. She values feedback and listens to what you are looking for. Her expertise goes far beyond editing, with expertise in Executive Function coaching, ADHD support, and general academic support. While we only worked with each other for a brief time period, I hope to be able to collaborate with Beth D. in the future. Beth's skillset and kindness make her a great tutor and editor.
