I am a Middle School Math Teacher in the public school system. I have taught Math for the past 15 years. Before teaching only Math, I taught Language Arts(Reading, Writing), and Math. I work with students using a variety of problem solving strategies. I also incorporate technology in my instruction. Manipulatives are used to enhance learning. I have tutored students in the past including my very own children who attend IVY LEAGUE university. I was the recipient of "Governor's Teachers Recognition Award".I work with students in a caring manner to help them reach their full potential in the subject area.

First hour lesson - $50 $40 for each additional hour
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Helping elementary students gain a love for learning is essential for present and future success. I have been working with students on this level for many years in the Public School System as an elementary teacher. I enjoy working with children to uncover their skills and expertise in the elementary subjects. I have a solid knowledge of the concepts in these subjects. I provide an atmosphere that promotes confidence and allow them to believe in what they can achieve. I have high expectations for my students and work with them to achieve their goals

Whole Numbers and Patterns, Introduction to Algebra, Decimals, Number Theory and Fractions, Fraction Operations, Collecting and Displaying Data, Proportional Relationships, Geometric Relationships, Measurement and Geometry, Area and Volume, Integers, Graphs and Functions,and Probability
Grammar is very important in speaking and writing. I tend to correct grammar on programs and during conversations with my students. I also explain to my students and children the importance of speaking and writing correctly.
I am a certified elementary (k-6)teacher with over 20 years' experience in the public school system. In my early years of teaching, I taught Kindergarten to 2nd grade skills. Phonics was a major part of my teaching. I find that I continue to teach these skills even in the upper grades when I encounter students with Reading difficulties. I am also the first teacher for my children and several of my nieces and nephews. I have seen tremendous growth in their Reading. There are many students whom I deal with on a daily basis who need Phonics reinforcement. In my earlier years of teaching and even presently, I taught students how to analyze the words by breaking words apart in syllables, sounding out each syllable and then putting the syllables together. When students are having difficulties with a word, my first instinct is never to tell them the word, but to allow them to use the strategies they were taught to decipher the word. When reading, I noticed that some students tend to freeze when they come upon a new word or a word that has many syllables. I help students to approach these words with confidence, realizing that their decoding skills is the key to unlocking what they may consider to be difficult. Students that I work with in the lower grades or those who come to me in the upper grades with reading fluency challenges, I continue to work with them in decoding words and thus helping them to overcome their fears of Reading. My students become comfortable reading out in a group, reading to answer comprehension questions, and just reading for fun.
In Reading Comprehension, students are provided with strategies to improve Comprehension. Students are taught how to underline, number and identify key words in passages. They are taught strategies in answering multiple choice questions
