Bio

Hi, I'm Michael, and I've always had a passion for computer science. I graduated from Bergen Community College with an Associates of Science (AS) in computer science and a 3.77 GPA. I'm also currently enrolled at NJIT to earn my Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer science. I started my teaching journey right before graduating from high school when I volunteered to be a Game Design and Computer Science teacher assistant. The opportunity lasted about a month but was enjoyable nonetheless.

Subsequent years later, I became an online computer science tutor, tutoring a wide range of topics for nearly a year. I specialize in C++ but have also taught students Python and Java. In some instances, I've taught students data structures and algorithms, object-oriented programming, and more. I conduct my tutoring sessions with college students and adults one-on-one in an online setting with a collaborative whiteboard and/or code editor. Typically, we analyze coursework, fix compiler errors, and complete assignments and projects by their due dates.

C++

I've primarily taught C++ throughout my time tutoring, and I believe that C++ should have its rightful place in every developer's repertoire of programming languages, as it allows programmers to implement nearly every concept taught in computer science in just one language. I've helped students apply and understand object-oriented programming as well as abstract data types such as stacks and queues. I've also taught students sorting algorithms, such as bubble sort, selection sort, and insertion sort, as well as pointers, how they're used, why they're used, and what they're used for. We also examine code in search of any improvements that can be made and redundancies that can be expunged, ensuring that we are following good programming practices.
