My name is MJ, and I am a multilingual undergraduate studying speech-language pathology with a Spanish minor. It is my ardent love of working with children, their families, and all things language that has led me to pursue becoming a speech-language pathologist.
I have been serving in tutoring and mentoring positions since my early teen years. Throughout middle and high school, I served in numerous roles such as a Montessori camp counselor, community-based mentor, private tutor.
Most recently, I have used my Spanish and Portuguese proficiency to serve as a tutor at an elementary school where I support an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher by providing interpretation and supporting multilingual literacy instruction. Additionally, I served as an intern at a therapy-based summer program for neurodiverse children where I collaborated with speech-language pathologists to facilitate therapeutic activities.
Furthermore, I also have experience serving collegiate writers. At my university, I serve as a Writing Fellow, or a course-embedded writing coach. My last semester as a Writing Fellow, I created class lessons, led workshops, and held one-on-one tutoring sessions.
As a tutor, I bring this same spirit into every session. I am intentional about forming meaningful connections with my students. My diverse range of experience with neurodiverse and multilingual learners of various ages has made me a versatile tutor.
