My name is Andrew. My specialty is teaching pre-calculus and calculus but I love teaching algebra, geometry, and trigonometry as well. I am a retired Electrical Engineer. I received my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering at Rutgers University and my Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University, I have over 27 years experience tutoring calculus and engineering subjects. I like to teach by example and I walk my students through all the steps necessary to both understand and master the skills necessary to do well in calculus. I have studied the teaching styles of other calculus teachers and feel (based on student feedback) I am pretty good at adapting my lessons based on a student's math abilities. I like to combine face-to-face lessons with some remote lessons depending on the needs of my students.

After college I joined an aerospace company as an electrical engineer. Later I joined the government and through continuing education beyond my Master's degree I specialized in satellite engineering. So, I have practical experience using calculus as well as tutoring and teaching junior engineers. After retirement I worked as a software consultant in China and then I joined a Chinese technical college. However it was in the country of Cambodia where I discovered my true passion was teaching calculus to college business, law, and engineering students at the American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP).

While I was at the American University of Phnom Penh I designed a diagnostic test for all my first year freshman students. I use the test to identify the gaps in mathematical knowledge that the student needs to fill in order to do well in calculus. Identifying the gaps enables me focus on the weaknesses of each student and to tailor the lessons appropriately.
