I have long been a proponent of a connection-driven tutoring approach—one that supports students not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. Over my years working as a peer tutor, Grade 1 teaching assistant and lifelong advocate for my own learning-disabled, special needs brother, I've seen firsthand the power of positive rapport-building in fostering all-around student confidence. Additionally, having graduated as my high school's Salutatorian in 2023 and accumulating over 3,000 hours of community service between grades 9-12, I understand the importance of pursuing a well-balanced lifestyle that allows a young person to thrive both in and beyond the classroom. As a tutor, I strive to create a welcoming environment where every student feels empowered to reach their full potential. Through this approach, I hope to leave a measurable impact on young learners and foster an immeasurable love of learning for years to come.
I recently completed my A.S. Degree in Sustainability Science, while also pursuing an interdisciplinary approach to my studies. I am proud to have graduated with highest honors, including a perfect 4.0 GPA, Frank M. Chambers Award for Academic Excellence, and Highest Academic Achievement Award for the Natural Sciences Department in Sustainability. I have enjoyed enriching myself with all that my school community has to offer, striving to create a positive impact on those around me as my campus' Ambassador to GivePulse, a national organization promoting community service in higher-education, and Chapter President of Phi Theta Kappa. I am also an active member of the Psychology Club, NSLS and volunteer time with the Advocates for Students with Learning Differences group, where I hope to bring meaningful connections and lifelong friendships to my disabled peers.
This fall, I will be transferring to Cornell University’s Environment & Sustainability Program, where I will concentrate in Policy & Governance to prepare for a career in Environmental Policy Management.

Composition (Music)

Composition (Music)

I have been immersed in music for as long as I can remember, be it watching my first Broadway Musical as a toddler, taking part in my elementary school choir, or being a member of my school district’s instrumental music program playing saxophone from grades 4-12, with the unique opportunity to engage in Honors-level performance work, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and AP Music Theory. I have been playing the saxophone for 11 years, beginning when I was 9 years old. In middle school, I was a part of our competition band, where we placed first in the state. In high school, my commitment to musical excellence allowed me to take part in the Honors section of the Wind Ensemble, where I received an A+ as the first-chair Baritone Saxophone player each year, from grades 9-12. I was also featured in the audition-only Jazz Band and highly-selective District Honors Band extracurricular groups. These experiences in school, as well as my hobbies in playing the piano and violin, laid the foundations for me to take AP Music Theory my Junior year of high school, where I earned an A+, and, more importantly, had the chance to garner a deeper appreciation for music composition, and the “behind-the-scenes” work that had gone into the countless songs I enjoy listening to and performing. After learning these skills, I have gone on to compose several short pieces of music, as well as further delve into the field of music theory.

During my Associate's program, I took Advanced Statistics 1 & 2, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I & II, in addition to rigorous, math-intensive science courses in chemistry, geology and biology. I earned an A in each of my classes, graduating with a perfect 4.0 GPA. This fall, I will be continuing my studies in Environmental Science by transferring into Cornell University's Environment & Sustainability Program, where I will hone my critical reasoning and analytical skills in a Policy & Governance concentration to prepare for a career in Environmental Policy Management, where research and data-driven solutions meet real-world needs.

I am proficient in multiple string instruments, including violin, bass, cello and the guitar family, as well as interpreting, transposing and composing in bass, treble and alto clefs.

Amazing tutor.

As a college student who has had the privilege to work with Samantha, I can attest first-hand to her commitment to the betterment of those around her. While at first I was hesitant to discuss my shortcomings for the fear of judgement, Samantha’s presence - even through a remote setting - conveyed a sense of genuine compassion that made me realize she was truly open to helping me grow, both as a student and a person. Throughout the entire session, Samantha composed herself in such a way that her personality shown through her professionalism, and by the end of our time together, I began to view Samantha not only as a mentor, but as a friend. Samantha took the initiative to introduce me to various resources to help me better organize myself and my time, and plans on following up with me at the start of every session to see how I am managing. Samantha is innovative, offering new suggestions I could make to better-meet my personal needs. Without a doubt, I feel that her adaptability will help my confidence grow as I use my summer to prepare for my junior year of college, and I am so grateful that I had the chance to cross paths with her. As a fellow college student, Samantha has countless responsibilities outside of our sessions, and yet, she seems genuinely eager to “catch-up” with both my life and progress, and is committed to helping me thrive by never failing to give me her “all.” Her work ethic is inspirational, and I have definitely drawn from her approach to continue my studies. She is empathetic and reliable to an unfathomable degree and I have certainly been blessed to have been matched with her for tutoring. From the day we were first “matched” by Wyzant, Samantha has always maintained correspondence with me ahead, during and between our most recent and upcoming sessions and it is clear that she cares about me and my personal and academic success. Since our session, she has frequently reached out to see how I was doing, and if I needed any additional support or resources in-between our sessions. This has motivated me to persevere, and after working with her, I truly believe that I will enter my next semester as a completely new student than I was last year. Samantha has sacrificed her own time away from school and on weekends for helping me learn and grow. Samantha has made an unimaginable impact on my life through her commitments to academic excellence, personal growth, and above all else, a true connection with those she surrounds herself with. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to be her client, and have no doubt she will leave just as great an impact on society as she had on me.

Awesome math tutor

Samantha has been my tutor since last year. I had a lot of issues with Geometry, and she was able to help me get my grade up as well as understand problems my teacher was having trouble helping me understand. She is currently my tutor for Algebra 2. I am understanding concepts and doing better in math overall. She is very patient, easy to understand and she is very flexible in working me in for an extra session the day before a test so we can go over my review. Thank you, Samantha.
