Hello! My name is Swetha and I have recently graduated from Rutgers University - New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences and a minor in Public Health. I have been tutoring general chemistry since I was a sophomore in college, and have experience tutoring in an online setting. I love tutoring students and helping them develop confidence in their coursework. As a chemistry tutor, I go over how to solve chemistry problems in a step-by-step fashion and help students identify where they go wrong as they approach difficult problems. My most memorable experience as a tutor would be when I tutored a student who initially expressed her disinterest in chemistry, witnessing her progress as she improved her performance in class, and eventually grow to love the subject. As I reflect on my experience tutoring, I value empowering students and ensuring they feel comfortable grasping challenging concepts. Outside of tutoring and teaching, I love volunteering in my community, painting/drawing, and vast bioinformatics research experience.
After completing my general chemistry courses at Rutgers University, I was driven to become a peer tutor to support the learning outcomes for other college students. I have experience tutoring General Chemistry at a college level on campus at Rutgers University - New Brunswick as a peer tutor. Given my passion for working with students, I further explored my interest in teaching students as a learning assistant for Physics Labs at Rutgers University. As a learning assistant, I helped students approach their lab experiments and facilitate group collaboration. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was motivated to become a volunteer virtual tutor where I recorded math lessons for students K-12 in Haiti, India, the Bronx, Harlem, DC, and Elmhurst in response to the pandemic. I also have experience teaching General Chemistry as a supplemental instructor during pre-week before the school semester started on campus.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you feel more comfortable
