I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a minor in History from a mid-sized university in the Northeast. After college, I spent several years working in public policy research before deciding to return to education, which has always been my real passion. I have been tutoring part-time for the past three years, working with high school and college students on history coursework, writing assignments, and standardized test preparation.
My approach is straightforward. I believe most students who struggle with history are not lacking intelligence — they are lacking a framework for organizing large amounts of information. I help students build timelines, identify cause-and-effect relationships, and connect themes across different periods. Once a student can see the bigger picture, the details start to fall into place naturally. For writing, I focus on clarity and structure. A strong thesis, well-chosen evidence, and logical organization will earn a good grade in any history class, and these are skills I can teach.
I tutor U.S. History, World History, Government and Politics, essay writing, and SAT and ACT reading and writing sections. I have worked with students ranging from ninth graders taking their first history course to college sophomores struggling with research papers. I am reliable, responsive, and committed to helping every student I work with build genuine confidence in their abilities.
