I recently graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry and am in the process of applying to medical school, a path that has given me a strong foundation in the sciences and developed my skills as both a student and a teacher. My academic preparation is reflected in my MCAT performance, where I scored above the 90th percentile in both the science sections and in reading comprehension. This achievement speaks not only to my mastery of biology, chemistry, and critical reasoning but also to my ability to break down complex information into clear, understandable concepts, an approach that is central to tutoring.
Beyond my academic background, I have direct teaching experience from my time as a Sunday school instructor, where I primarily taught history lessons to middle school students. This role required me to create engaging lesson plans, adapt my teaching methods to different learning styles, and maintain a balance between structured instruction and open discussion. Through this, I developed patience and creativity in guiding students who were at an age where curiosity and critical thinking were beginning to take root. The experience showed me how rewarding it is to help learners build confidence in their abilities by connecting new ideas to what they already know.
While much of my formal teaching experience has been in the context of Sunday school, my academic background equips me to support students in biology and chemistry at both the middle and high school levels. In addition to academic tutoring, I am also open to mentoring students who are preparing for college applications or who are interested in pursuing pre-medical studies. My goal as a tutor and mentor is to encourage curiosity, build understanding, and foster confidence in learning and future academic pursuits.
