About Arnav

Bio

I'm a Computer Science student at Duke University with a strong background in mathematics, problem solving, and teaching. Throughout high school, I maintained a high academic record, earned a perfect 1600 SAT score, and completed advanced coursework including AP Calculus BC. Math has always been one of my strongest subjects, and I enjoy helping students build confidence while developing a deep understanding of the material rather than simply memorizing formulas.

My tutoring experience comes from both volunteer and coaching roles. I have completed over 150 hours of volunteer tutoring through Upchieve, where I worked one-on-one with middle school and high school students in subjects such as SAT Math, Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus. Through this work, I helped students with everything from homework assignments to standardized test preparation. I have also spent years coaching younger athletes in competitive table tennis, which taught me how to break down complex skills into simple, actionable steps and adapt my teaching style to different learning preferences.

My approach to tutoring is patient, interactive, and personalized. I focus on identifying where a student is getting stuck and then building a clear path toward mastery. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through the reasoning process so they can solve similar problems independently in the future. Whether a student is looking to improve grades, prepare for an exam, or strengthen their overall understanding of math, my goal is to make learning approachable, engaging, and effective while helping them develop confidence in their abilities.

College Counseling

College Counseling

I am a co-founder of a college admissions consulting business, where I work directly with students on college strategy, application development, essay editing, and admissions planning. As an incoming freshman at Duke University, I was admitted to highly selective institutions, including Duke, Princeton, UPenn, Yale, Vanderbilt, and CMU, giving me firsthand experience navigating competitive admissions. I help students identify their strengths, build compelling applications, and craft authentic essays that effectively communicate their stories. Having recently gone through the admissions process myself, I can provide current, practical guidance on applications, supplemental essays, waitlists, and college decision-making.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I have extensive experience writing and revising personal statements that helped me gain admission to highly selective universities, including Duke University, Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech. As a co-founder of a college admissions consulting business, I work directly with students to develop compelling personal narratives and strengthen their application essays. I help students identify meaningful experiences, structure their stories effectively, and refine their writing while maintaining an authentic voice. Having recently completed the admissions process myself, I understand what makes a personal statement memorable and impactful to admissions officers.
Physics

Physics

I have completed advanced high school physics coursework and developed a strong foundation in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, waves, and problem-solving. As an experienced tutor, I help students break down complex physics concepts into intuitive, step-by-step solutions that build both understanding and confidence. My strong background in mathematics allows me to effectively teach the quantitative aspects of physics and help students apply concepts to challenging problems. As an incoming Duke University student, I bring recent academic experience and a practical approach to helping students succeed in physics courses and exams.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I earned a perfect 800 on the SAT Math section and have extensive experience helping students improve their problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and test-taking strategies. As a volunteer SAT Math tutor with over 150 hours of tutoring experience, I have worked one-on-one with students across a wide range of skill levels. I focus on helping students master key concepts, identify common mistakes, and develop efficient approaches for the Digital SAT. As an incoming Duke University student with a strong background in advanced mathematics, I can provide both content instruction and targeted SAT preparation.
