I am currently a Computer Science undergraduate at the University of Maryland, where my coursework has given me a strong foundation in mathematics, programming, and problem solving. Through my studies, I regularly apply concepts from calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and computer science fundamentals, which directly inform how I teach these subjects. My academic background allows me to explain not just how to solve problems, but why the underlying ideas work, which is critical for helping students build long-term understanding rather than short-term memorization.

I have several years of tutoring and teaching experience across different settings and age groups. I began teaching at Kumon, where I worked primarily with elementary and middle school students, helping them build fluency and confidence in math through structured practice and incremental skill development. I also worked at a local tutoring center and served as a tutor during high school and throughout college, supporting middle school and high school students in math and related subjects. Most of my work has been one-on-one, which has trained me to adapt quickly to different learning styles, pacing needs, and levels of prior knowledge.

In my tutoring, I focus on breaking complex topics into clear, manageable steps and encouraging students to think out loud as they work through problems. I emphasize fundamentals first, then gradually introduce more challenging variations to ensure mastery. Having taught in structured programs, informal tutoring environments, and individualized sessions, I am comfortable adjusting my approach based on the student’s age, goals, and confidence level. This combination of a strong technical academic background and hands-on teaching experience is what enables me to tutor effectively across math and computer science topics.
