I'm a certified English teacher who is passionate about writing and literature. At The College of New Jersey, I majored in English and Secondary Education and graduated summa cum laude. Afterwards, I taught middle and high school English for six years. I'm a certified English teacher who is passionate about writing and literature. At The College of New Jersey, I majored in English and Secondary Education and graduated summa cum laude. Afterwards, I taught middle and high school English for six years. I've taught sixth, eighth, and ninth grades, and eventually focused on eleventh and twelfth grades at the regular, College Prep, and Honors level. I am am also certified to teach AP Literature and AP Language and Composition, and had the opportunity to teach AP Lit. My favorite books to teach included Pride and Prejudice and Much Ado About Nothing!

Then, I completed a Master’s in Creative Writing and Literature through the Harvard Extension School. I have been a tutor for SAT Reading and Grammar for over two years, and help students learn step-by-step strategies for each question type. I have also tutored for ACT Reading and Writing, AP Language and Composition, and AP Literature.

It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with and support students in honing their reading and writing skills and discovering the profound ideas in powerful works of literature. I'd love to help you delve into literary and poetic works, review essay-writing skills and provide suggestions to strengthen creative writing, and prepare for the SAT or English AP exams.

I have loved reading and teaching the classics for many years. As an undergraduate, I took English courses on classic British novels such as Jane Austen's Persuasion and George Eliot's Middlemarch, on the plays of Shakespeare, and Philosophy courses on classical texts by Plato. While obtaining a Master's in Creative Writing and Literature through the Harvard Extension School, my coursework included studying classic Russian literature such as Anna Karenina and The Brothers Karamazov. As a high school English teacher, my favorite books to teach included Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, and Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. I am a member of the Jane Austen Society of North America, and attend their conference which features scholarly lectures on Austen's works. I absolutely love discussing profound literary masterpieces and helping students understand, analyze, and connect with them.

I started writing poems, stories, and songs early on in life. I have written essays that have won contests, including those of the Great American Think-Off and the Jane Austen Society. Currently, I'm a member of writing groups and literary societies such as the Society for Classical Poets. Last year, I completed a Master's in Creative Writing and Literature through the Harvard Extension School.

For students looking to bring their essay-writing to the next level, we work on seamlessly incorporating quotes and enhancing quote analysis to create a sophisticated and compelling composition. As a writer myself, I have won essay contests and can guide students in honing their writing skills.

As a middle and high school English teacher for six years, I provided thorough feedback on students' writing assignments. For the most part, I taught juniors and seniors, many of whom asked me to review Personal Statements such as college application essays. I helped students revise and proofread their responses for maximum effectiveness. Moreover, while pursuing a Master's in Creative Writing and Literature through the Harvard Extension School, I often completed peer reviews of lengthy manuscripts and offered feedback. Currently, as a tutor, I have helped students revise Personal Statements including their Common App essays and supplementary essays. We discuss the overall goal of the piece as well as fixing grammatical issues. As a writer myself, I have won essay contests and can guide students in honing their writing skills.
