Hello! My name is Enrique. I am currently a high school special education teacher, who happens to specialize in teaching high school math courses. My particular style is to simplify complex topics and "chunk" the material one must understand to successfully problem solve. I often find that many of the teaching strategies stereotypically characterized as "special education" techniques are quite effective for those who struggle with math whether those who are struggling are students with special needs or not. While this isn't always the case, I tend to be more effective as a teacher and a tutor for those who are substantially struggling to grasp necessary material. For those students who simply need reinforcement or more of a challenge, you're likely to find someone else who is a better fit for your needs.
With regard to my subject specific qualifications, I have taken and performed well (B or better) in multiple math courses up to and including Statistics and Calculus 2 (as per google - the study of integration, differential equations, sequences and series, and parametric equations and polar coordinates). That said, I tend to be much more effective at teaching high school courses (which typically don't include cal 2). I currently teach both Geometry and Algebra 1 at a high school in NYC.
I have also taught both Global History and American History (though at a private high school so the curriculum was slightly different than that of a public high school).
