Hi, I'm Prerna! I am a junior at Rutgers University majoring in Computer Science and Psychology. I have over four years of experience working with students in tutoring roles, primarily working with students from kindergarten through 4th grade. I have mostly helped them build foundational skills, improve their confidence, and develop good study habits. I have learned how important patience is when working with young students through this experience. I particularly enjoy tutoring math and chemistry where I can focus on breaking down concepts into steps. I would also be happy to support students in other subjects as needed.
My tutoring style is individualized. I believe that each student learns differently, so I take the time to learn their strengths and their goals so that I can tailor my sessions to fit their needs. Instead of just helping them get to the correct answer, I emphasize the skills needed to get to the answer so they can succeed by themselves. My background in psychology has been especially useful in understanding learning styles and communication which has allowed me to create supportive learning environments in the past. I aim to make learning engaging and stress-free while helping students feel more confident in their abilities inside and outside the classroom.
