Hi I'm Josh! I graduate Boston University with a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and Computer Science. Throughout my experience in college and in high school, I made plenty of use learning with professors, teaching assistants and peers. And one of the most important things I've recognized is the availability and comfort I felt with these people helped me grow and learn to the best of my ability. Knowing I had reliable people to ask any questions I had, and learn their tips and tricks to understanding the material made me adapt these qualities. I tutored privately during high school and college and I made this my goal to create relationships and cultivate a stress-free and open learning environment. I experimented with plenty of tutoring styles, catering to the kids who simply needed somebody to guide them with homework to others trying to get ahead and have an extra resource to prep them for future material. What I've found most effective is having either school textbooks or learning schedules to adapt lesson plans to assist with school learning.
Most of the students I've tutored were in 1 on 1 sessions, conducting lessons in person at the local library as well as online over Zoom during the COVID time period. I also served as a teaching assistant in college, prepared for any questions my peers had in understanding specific concepts or solutions. For high school and younger, I've taught grade level math and science up to Algebra and Physics.
My teaching plans are extremely flexible, maximizing the resources the students currently work with to teach relevant concepts first. I always prepare extra material to enhance understanding and am open to using any additional suggestions for my students.
