I'm Michael, a dedicated educator with a robust background in computer science, physics, and game development (both digital and physical). I graduated from Rutgers University with a major in Computer Science and have spent the past decade designing and developing educational video games, collaborating with organizations such as PBS, Scholastic, and a variety of universities to create engaging learning experiences for students of all ages. With a proven track record of tutoring in math, programming, game development, and design, I bring a wealth of classical training and real world experience to my sessions.

I take pride in my collaborative approach to learning — meeting students where they are while setting clear goals and standards that pave the way for success. When working with a new student, I first focus on what they're trying to achieve and what they're bringing to the table. My goal is to be dynamic but efficient. Everyone brings a different knowledge base, set of goals, and emotional maturity that are important factors in my tutelage. Depending on time constraints, many students also benefit from managed rigor with regards to roadmapping their learning. I like to set measurable goals and layout milestones to encourage long-term engagement that help me track the student's learning velocity. Throughout this process I also foster transparency. Whether I'm mentoring adults aspiring to enter game design and development or tutoring younger learners in math, I believe in actively engaging parents or other stakeholders in the educational process to create a supportive and enriched learning environment. People learn better when they can feel WHY they are trying to learn.
Every person in the world has untapped potential. It's my goal to realize that potential in myself while fostering this growth in others. I have a lot of tools to leverage for this end and am excited to share them with you and yours!
