Hi! I’m Claire! I’m a rising sophomore at Princeton University majoring in English on a pre-med track, with minors in Creative Writing and Global Health. I graduated valedictorian of my high school and have won several awards for excellence in English and History.
I have four years of tutoring experience, both paid and volunteer. As a sophomore in high school, I provided free one on one tutoring to two third grade students struggling with online school. I tutored elementary math and reading for one year until both students had been caught up with their curriculum. I also tutored fourth and fifth grade students as part of an after school program, focusing primarily on reading and writing skills. I was employed by Tutor’s Link in Dumont, NJ where I provided assistance with homework to several students aged 6-14. Additionally, I helped several of them study for tests, write essays, and better understand concepts they had been confused on in class. This year, I coached a high school student in APUSH, focusing on essay writing. Currently, I participate in a volunteer tutoring program through Princeton and tutor a middle school student in history, English, and essay writing once a week during the school year.
I really enjoy tutoring and love seeing students success after working with them! As a tutor, I describe myself as very patient and understanding. I like to take a more light-hearted approach to tutoring to help students start to enjoy the process of learning a new topic or writing an essay. I’m looking forward to working with you!
