My name is Benjamin and I am member of the MIT Class of 2018 with a B.S. in Political Science and Economics. I graduated in seven semesters with a GPA of 4.7/5. I am knowledgeable about math concepts ranging from beginner’s arithmetic to Advanced Placement BC Calculus, a class in which I scored a perfect 5/5 on the end-of-year AP exam. My knowledge of physics is high-level as well.
I have experience teaching math and physics, both formal and informal. During high school, I was always a person people came to for explanations of math and physics concepts. In addition, I have experience tutoring the SAT Math section to high school students in my neighborhood.
My approach includes several elements: 1) Always remain patient and have multiple ways of explaining a single concept, 2) Have a clear lesson plan and stick to it, 3) Be observant and discern student personalities to maximize rapport.
I have experience working with with children and adolescents, primarily high school and middle school students. I do not have experience with group tutoring, only one on one. I prefer working one on one with students but I might want to take on group classes as I gain experience and improve over time as a tutor.
