I am an enthusiastic and patient teacher with ten years of experience teaching English, ESL, and History at various age groups and levels. I am passionate about literature, world history, and language education and I have a strong desire to make learning an enjoyable and intriguing experience for my students. I excell in identifying my students' blind spots and providing clear instruction in a way that students can understand.
My educational background has revolved around education and I am a lifelong learner. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in English from Rutgers University-Newark where my studies focused on English literature. Upon graduating, I taught ESL in Thailand for five years, where I also tutored students for IELTS and in preparation for national English competitions and study abroad programs. I completed a Master of Education in International Teaching from Framingham State University, where I received advanced instruction in teaching literacy, cross-cultural education, and ESL education.
In the United States, I have five years of teaching experience at the high school and university level. I taught English literature for two years at Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey. The classes I taught included Honors British Literature, Diversity in Literature, and Journalism. I also taught for a semester at Baraboo High School in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The classes I taught there included World Literature, US Literature, and Literary Themes & Composition.
I also taught undergraduate university classes in ESL and history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison while I pursued a graduate degree there in Southeast Asian Studies. I taught ESL academic writing, as well as classes in Southeast Asian history and politics.
