Greetings, my name is Michael. I have my standard certification in mathematics and special education for the state of NJ and have also had certification in North Carolina and Connecticut. I have a Bachelor’s of Science i Math, a Master’s of Science in Education, and a Master’s of Arts in Special Education. I have been teaching and tutoring math courses since 2011 which include but are not limited to: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Honors Pre-calculus, Math 1A, Honors Math 2, Math 3A, as well as SAT/ACT prep for Math. I have had the pleasure of teaching students from K-12 and post secondary. I have taught as the lead teacher, the inclusion special education teacher, the pull out/push-in teacher in classes, a self contained classroom teacher, and have tutored in small group and one on one sessions. I have also provided volunteer tutoring services for one of the churches in my hometown.

As a mathematics teacher I strive to create a firm understanding of mathematics and my students so that I can help them gain a better understanding of mathematics. I will motivate students in mathematics by engaging them in the joy and challenge of solving real-world problems using math. Using the skills I acquired to effectively communicate with students, I will teach students how to process critical thinking applications required in the classroom and apply them in real-world situations. I will implement the teaching strategies of teamwork, cooperative learning, and differentiated instruction to provide the opportunity for active student engagement and an in-depth conceptual understanding of the content curriculum. My interest in the growing technological world will also allow me to bridge the connection between the material within the curriculum, the students’ interests, and real-world scenarios.
