Hey Ya'll My name is Nzinga, and I am an educator and musician with experience teaching English elementary school through high school. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from William Paterson University and a Master's degree in Contemporary Music from Berklee College of Music. In addition to my music background, I have taught English Language Arts in the classroom, worked as a substitute teacher across multiple grade levels, and helped students strengthen their reading, writing, grammar, and critical thinking skills. I also have passed the Praxis 5038 required for all secondary english teachers.
My teaching philosophy is centered on meeting students where they are and helping them build confidence through clear instruction, patience, and encouragement. Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to individual learning styles and goals. Whether a student needs help improving reading comprehension, developing stronger writing skills, practicing conversational English, or building a foundation in music, I strive to create a supportive environment where learning feels engaging and achievable.
I specialize in English, ESL, reading, writing, grammar, and beginner music instruction. As a lifelong musician with over 17 years of performing experience, I can also help students develop fundamental music skills, and performance confidence. My background working with diverse learners has taught me the importance of flexibility, communication, and making lessons both challenging and enjoyable.
I welcome students of all ages and experience levels. Whether you're preparing for school, improving your English skills, exploring music for the first time, or looking for extra academic support, I would love the opportunity to help you reach your goals. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to connecting with you!
